Great Binfields' Children's Page

 

Our Writers' Club which meets on Tuesdays after school have produced their second newspaper. ''Heard it in the Playground' will be on sale on Monday 15 and Tuesday 16 June at first break and costs 5p per copy.

 

 
A group of 29 children from years 4 - 6 were recently involved in a project run by Anvil Arts.
   
Paul Griffiths, a highly experienced guitarist and singing director, came into school for five practice sessions. Some children played their own instruments, some played percussion instruments and they all learned various songs, singing in harmonies.
   

On 16 April the group attended an all-day rehearsal at the Anvil where they met five other schools and some community singers/musicians and visiting artists. they then performed '+' on the evening of 17 March.

 

Many parents were in the audience - some even joined in a percussion arrangement - and the concert was enjoyed by all.
     

One of our pupils, James Munro, who is also in the Writers' Club wrote the following article:

On the 17th March we performed '+' at the Anvil. Mrs Kilgour was very excited, so was Amber, but Ryan was a bit scared.

Esme was very happy after the show and Rebecca was very sad it was all over. There was confetti, fireworks and balloons and it was very exciting.
